O MST e a luta por reforma agrária em Feira de Santana: uma alternativa para o Acampamento Estrela Vive que passa por uma outra economia

Abstract

The Land Reform is part of a historical agenda of the rural workers in Brazil. The Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) is the result of this permanent struggle for land. This work seeks to portray the reality of the Estrela Vive camp families, in the municipality of Feira de Santana, Bahia. For this, methodologically, we used Social Research, Clinical Sociology and Militant Research to conduct this work, applying methodological tools such as documentary research, semi-structured interviews, analysis of legal documents and decrees, and also of the legal framework of land reform, in addition to literature that dialogues with the object of the research. We identified socio-productive typologies, discussed the legal framework of land reform, and characterized the organization of the camp. As a result, we observed that the occupied property should be complying the constitutional provision of the social function of the land and that the creation of a settlement on the area contributes to this perspective. The families produce food without using pesticides or any chemical products, thus demonstrating care for the environment and for human health. The organization and its mode of representation are principles of territorialization of the Landless. The struggle for land reform is a territorial struggle in its various dimensions, because there are in that space conflicts and economic, social, political, environmental, cultural etc. relations. We conclude, therefore, that public lands should be destined for land reform and, in this specific case, the State of Bahia is in a position to carry out this action by means of legislation that already exists at the state level and/or by means of public administration policies guaranteed by the Constitution of the State of Bahia.
