Conceptualizações de “política” em entrevista de Marina Silva ao Roda Viva: uma abordagem da Linguística Cognitiva

Abstract

This master's dissertation aims to present conceptualizations of “politics” in Marina Silva's interview by the program Roda Viva, broadcasted live on March 10, 2025. It is an interdisciplinary study between Cognitive Linguistics (CL) and Political Science, qualitative, based on Kövecses's Extended Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) (2020). To this end, it observes and analyzes the verbal content of the audiovisual recording of the interview, available on the Roda Viva YouTube channel. Through bibliographical, intuitive, lexical-specialized, and rhizomatic construction analysis approaches, we arrive at multilevel structures of conceptualizations of “politics”, as indicated by Kövecses (2020). These metaphorical conceptualizations occur at the levels of image schemas, domains, frames, and mental spaces, in the form of a hierarchy of schematicity/specificity. Ventures between CL and Political Science were carried out by Lakoff (2006; 2009) and also underpin the procedures here, derived from the view of language and mind as a structured continuum, according to CL (Evans, Green, 2006; Lakoff, Johnson, 2002; Kövecses, 2002). To describe and interpret the multilevel structures of conceptualizations of “politics,” political scientists Dahl (2005), Sartori (1994), Bianchi, Rezende and Teixeira (2019), Couto (2019), Franzese and Pedroti (2005) and Pinto and Teixeira (2023) are used here to understand democracy and the Brazilian political system, in which the conceptualizer holds the position of Minister of the Environment and Climate Change. This interdisciplinary theoretical contribution, from Cognitive Linguistics (CL) and Political Science, enriches the description and interpretation of the three multilevel structures activated by Marina Silva in the observed interview, referring to the metaphors at the frame level POLITICS IS PROTECTION, POLITICS IS GAME, and POLITICS IS FIGHT/WAR.
